Delinquent Tax Information

The township collects real property taxes for the current tax year only.  On March 1 of each year, real property taxes may no longer be paid at the township.  Real property taxes not paid by March 1 will be turned over as DELINQUENT to the Kent County Treasurer’s Office for continued collection.  Interest and administration fees will be incurred. US postmarks will not be accepted as on-time payments.

Beginning March 1, payments must be made to the Kent County Treasurer and can be directed to the following address:

Kent County Treasurer
300 Monroe Ave NW
Grand Rapids, MI  49503

The Kent County Treasurer’s Office can be reached by phone at 616-632-7500 or online at www.accesskent.com/Property/.

Public Act 123 of 1999 shortens the amount of time property owners have to pay their delinquent taxes before losing their property.  Property owners with taxes that are two years delinquent will be foreclosed and the property will be sold at public auction within the third year.  For example, people who fail to pay their 2015 property taxes will lose their property to foreclosure in March 2018.
